Car insurance: Golden oldies race again
Friday, 03 November 2006
The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run takes place this weekend from November 4th to 5th and many vintage car owners will be taking part.
The event will be a joy to anyone interested in seeing a very rare 1933 Maserati 8CM or a 1956 Ferrari 290 MM which was first driven by Fangio in the Mile Miglia endurance race in Italy.
Nearly 500 pre-1905 veteran cars are expected to participate in the run from London to Brighton, which includes over 85 international entrants from places as far flung as China, Australia and South Africa.
Angus Forsyth, who helps organise the event, said "Britain is a veritable hotbed of classic car collectors" but motorists who drive any vehicle, even sleep vintage Ferraris, should seek a cheap car insurance quote online.
The race sets off from Hyde Park and continues for 60 miles. It commemorates the 120th anniversary of the 1896 Emancipation Run when rules were changed so that a man no longer needed to walk in front of moving vehicles.
