Travel insurance: Vietnam is 'in vogue'

Friday, 03 October 2008

Increasing numbers of Brits are likely to need travel insurance to cover them in Vietnam, Explore has suggested.

The organisation said the location is currently in vogue as it is viewed as a more daring choice than other countries in south-east Asia.

Product manager with Explore Caroline Phillips said: "It took a while for Vietnam to seep into the travel consciousness as a holiday destination, but it's now very established."

She explained the country has benefited over recent years from investment in tourist infrastructure, resulting in better roads, internal flight networks and accommodation.

In comparison to other countries in the region, travel insurance customers heading to Vietnam will also find it is excellent value for money, she added.

A report from the General Statistics Office for the nation showed there had been an increase of 5.9 per cent in international arrivals during the first nine months of 2008 in comparison with the same period last year.
