Car insurance: New VW may help drivers cut costs

Monday, 06 July 2009

Drivers who make sure they always purchase the cheapest online car insurance may find a new model from Volkswagen can help them make savings in other areas.

Scheduled to arrive in UK showrooms in September, the 105 PS Golf BlueMotion with 1.6-litre TDI diesel engine is available to order immediately.

With fuel economy of 68.9 mpg, the vehicle could help motorists reduce the amount they spend at the pump.

Meanwhile, as the car boasts CO2 emissions of 107 g/km, owners will find they qualify to pay road tax of £35 a year.

Volkswagen explained: "The gains in efficiency are made possible through a combination of subtle yet effective changes to the vehicle's drivetrain and aerodynamics."

Two additional versions of the auto with the same engine - which also boast CO2 emissions of under 120 g/km – are being released at the same time.

Drivers looking to buy one of the models in order to reduce running costs may find purchasing low cost motor insurance can make a significant difference to their outgoings.
