Car insurance: New Golf may tempt Brits

Friday, 03 April 2009

The number of Brits taking out car insurance policies for Volkswagen Golf models may increase after the release of the diesel-powered GTD edition.

Figures provided by the manufacturer show the vehicle boasts CO2 emissions of 139 g/km and offers average fuel consumption of 53.3 mpg, with the car being able to cover more than 650 miles on a single tank of fuel.

The GTD can also hit 62 mph in 8.1 seconds before going on to a top speed of 136 mph.

In terms of appearance, the model was described as being quite different from the standard Golf.

The car features the same front-end design, honeycomb grille and badge style as the DTI - and also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels.

Available to order immediately, first deliveries of the vehicle are scheduled for June 22nd.

Prices are expected to start at less than £22,000.

Motorists trying to decide whether they can afford the GTD may benefit from searching for a cheap car insurance quote online so they can calculate total running costs for the model.
