Travel insurance: More UK couples heading abroad to get hitched

An increasing number of UK brides may have to start thinking about travel insurance, one expert has suggested.

According to Conde Nast Brides magazine more and more British couples are heading abroad to get hitched.

Executive editor Thea Darricotte said government claims that the British wedding industry is in decline were wrong because they did not take into account people who head overseas to tie the knot.

She stated: "More and more people are thinking of sunnier climates where they are going to have more for their money and also pretty much good weather guaranteed."

Recent statistics released by the Halifax showed the most popular destinations for couples getting married abroad.

The Caribbean proved most popular, followed by Hawaii and the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

Other locations in the top ten were Cuba, Disneyland Paris, the French Riviera and Las Vegas.
