Motor insurance: Welsh motorists suffer postcode lottery
Friday, 08 December 2006
People in Wales are suffering from staggering differences in car insurance premiums across the country, according to new research.
One price comparison website found that a male driver from Clwyd would have to pay £2,272 while in Bridgend the cost is just £204.
Women in the coastal resort Swansea, such as movie star resident Catherine Zeta-Jones, face high prices of £1,746 for car insurance cover.
Richard Mason, from the site, said: "Consumers would do well to shop around and compare the market every year instead of renewing with the same insurer as this could probably save them a great deal of money."
Car insurance is somewhat of a postcode lottery and payments are defined by age, car type and the riskiness of the area you drive in.
Always shop around online for cheap car insurance and make sure you get the best quotes for cover.
