Travel insurance: Many Brits 'will be looking for winter sun holidays'

Thursday, 08 October 2009

A significant number of Brits may well take out travel insurance, pack a suitcase and head abroad for a winter sun holidays in the coming months, if the comments of one firm are anything to go by.

According to travel agent On the Beach, the UK's disappointing summer may well mean people decide to get away somewhere they can enjoy a bit of warm weather.

Marketing director Alistair Daly said the company has already taken lots of bookings for trips to places like Morocco, Tunisia, the Canary Islands and Turkey.

He stated: "We have had a pretty dismal summer here in the UK, so we do expect a good winter sun season."

Meanwhile, Mr Daly claimed, despite reports to the contrary, many Brits still headed abroad for their main annual holiday this year.

A recent survey of 2,000 people by On the Beach also found 70 per cent of travellers plan to go overseas in 2010.
