Women are the best parkers

Monday, 30 January 2012

A perennial argument between drivers across the country has finally been settled, as experts claim that women are better at parking than men.

In a study conducted by National Car Parks (NCP), drivers were tested on 20 different parking skills, including selection of a space, final position and speed at which the manoeuvre was performed.

The final outcome was that women are safer at parking than their male counterparts, will choose wider spaces, and will take their time when they are easing into a space, making them less likely to make car insurance claims.

Neil Beeson, who designed the test, said: "I was quite surprised by the results because, in my experience, men have always been the best learners and usually performed better in lessons. However, it’s possible that women retain the information better."

Last week, the Institute of Advanced Motorists offered drivers tips on parking to make sure that they keep themselves safe, after it said that they can cause a lot of bumps and scrapes on the road, telling drivers to reverse into spaces, and to park slowly at all times.
