The fairer sex have long had it cheaper when it comes to
car insurance, but the gender balance could be about to shift according to a new report.
Whilst many men are just as competent as female drivers, says the report by a car insurance comparison site, women continue to enjoy cheaper car insurance.
Statistics show that male drivers are more likely to be involved in a car accident and therefore claim on their car insurance more frequently.
Understandably, with women a better insurance risk, car insurance providers are qualified to lower the rate of women's car insurance.
Another factor giving women the upper hand in the car insurance stakes is mileage. Women generally rack up fewer miles on the clock than men and mileage is an important yardstick for car insurers, as drivers with bigger mileage are more likely to be involved in a car accident.
The overall trend of gender difference at the wheel appears to be narrowing, according to the report, with women in reality just as susceptible to moments of aggression at the wheel, the car insurance comparison site claims.
But until statistics and figures can point to a shift in the gender balance, women's car insurance premiums will continue to stay low.
