Car insurance: Women 'put off by rust buckets'

Wednesday, 20 May 2009

Men who are thinking about buying an old banger and taking out third party car insurance in order to save money may want to think again after hearing the results of a recent survey.

A poll by found 34 per cent of women would dump a bloke if his set of wheels did not meet their expectations.

The research also revealed females are three times more likely than men to reject a potential love-interest on the basis of what car he drives.

In addition to this, the study suggested some people are more concerned about finding the perfect motor than the ideal partner.

Of those questioned, one in fifty said they were fonder of their vehicle than their boyfriend or girlfriend.

Marketing manager Katie Armitage commented: "We are truly a nation in love with our wheels and our findings show how many drivers have a special place in their hearts for their motors."

In light of this, the website has launched a car compatibility calculator designed to help users find the vehicle of their dreams.

Before buying a car, drivers may want to get a motor insurance quote so they get an idea of overall running costs.
