Car insurance: Satnav 'tops female drivers' wish list'

Monday, 20 October 2008

An in-built satnav is the most desired feature among female car insurance customers, a recent survey has revealed.

Research published by General Motors Fleet has found 30 per cent of female motorists said this particular technological extra would be their number one choice when buying a new vehicle.

Some 17 per cent said they would opt to upgrade their music system - with an mp3 or iPod dock - and 15 per cent named climate control as their main priority.

Other popular choices were infotainment systems, sunroofs and parking sensors.

However, less than ten per cent listed lower fuel consumption as a concern.

When asked about the most valued features in their current cars, 46 per cent of women said their stereo made driving more enjoyable.

Female drivers may find the cost of their motor insurance is affected by the features included in their vehicle.

People looking for reduced car insurance quotes may find adding extra security measures, such as an alarm, will reduce the cost of their premiums.
