Bright shades 'open up a room', says expert

Friday, 14 September 2012

Bright shades aid in 'opening up a room', an expert has said.

Sofa Design's Mike Hackworthy is also of the opinion that shades which are linked to the outside world create a sense of summer for homes.

Examples would be raspberry like shades, sunny yellow colours and lime green, he suggested.

And it seems that the likes of home insurance holders might have a more upbeat environment on their hands should they opt for bright shades.

"Creating an airy space with bright block colours can help to create a feel-good atmosphere," Mr Hackworthy advised. That technique works particularly well in less sizeable spaces, he went on.

"Using bright colours for upholstered furniture in smaller spaces that may not get a great deal of sunlight will really bring the room to life," he said.

"Paler, lighter colours can greatly assist in creating the illusion of space", commented the colour expert and interior designer Karen Haller last year.
