The C3 Pluriel – the Charleston – has taken its inspiration from the manufacturer's classic 2CV which celebrates its 60th birthday this year.

Citroen claims the convertible supermini should appeal to fans of the original car and those looking for a vehicle with designed with a sense of individual flair, as it combines nostalgic and modern styling.

The model will be available in a two-tone black and red colour scheme and will also feature gloss-black fittings, chrome trim and leather upholstery.

It will also come with 15 inch aluminium wheels with red embellisher centres as standard.

Further details, including the price, are due to be released closer to the launch date.

Visitors to the Paris Motor Show will also be able to view Citroen's new concept coupe.
