Motor insurance: Lancashire drivers 'caught out'

Thursday, 12 June 2008

Drivers in the Lancashire area have been implicated amid claims that they deliberately attempted to dodge speed camera fines, something that may have an impact on their motor insurance.

Police stated that 15 motorists have been arrested in Blackburn as the force attempts to knuckle down on those attempting to sidestep the law, reports the Lancashire Telegraph.

Such a drive was initiated by the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety and Lancashire Constabulary, with more than 50 officers deployed.

If others think about running away from the law in the future then they ought to think twice, remarked Chief Inspector Terry Woods.

"This operation should demonstrate our determination to take firm action against anyone suspected of dishonestly avoiding liability for speed camera offences," he told the news provider.

People who may be aware of similar offenders have asked to contact police as soon as possible with information.

More research needs to be carried out before further 20 mph speed zones are implemented, the Royal Automobile Club Foundation's Elizabeth Dainton has said.
