Motor insurance: Crime spate in Dorset

Thursday, 01 May 2008

Dorset drivers have been warned about a number of car crime incidents in the area that have taken place recently.

And Dorchester police Inspector Les Fry urged motorists to be more cautious in light of the spate of attacks, reports the Dorset Echo.

Items that have been stolen so far during the incidents include a mobile phone, wallet, bank cards and compact discs.

The officer stated that there have been similarities in all of the cases and that cars have been unlocked.

"All these incidents have been from insecure vehicles," he told the publication.

"People have a duty to look after their property and make sure it is safe."

Those with any information relating to the crimes have been asked to get in contact with officers based in Dorset.

In related news, cameras have been concealed in vehicles in Morcambe as an attempt by police to try and catch local thieves.

Motorists should ensure they have a valid car insurance policy that may cover them in the instance of theft.
