Car insurance: Batman arrested for drink driving

Wednesday, 16 August 2006

Batman has been arrested for drink driving in Fife, while Superman sat in the passenger seat.

Police arrested Batman, who only had a provisional licence, for driving whilst over the legal limit, whilst Superman was also charged after giving a positive breath test.

The two men, on their way home from a fancy dress party, were arrested during a campaign to help reduce the number of drink drivers on the road

An official spokesman for Fife Police explained: "We've all had a bit of laugh about Superman and Batman getting stopped. But there is a serious side to all of this. The driver of the car appears only to have had a provisional driving licence and has been charged with drink driving."

"The fully licensed driver who was beside him has been charged in connection with being over the drink limit while in charge of the vehicle," he added.

Even superheroes are likely to see an increase in their motor insurance costs if they are caught drink driving and end up having a ban or points added to their licence.
