Car insurance policyholders who want to keep their claims to a minimal amount this season should consider the speed at which they are driving, experts say.

Employing particular safety measures prior to starting journeys could also be fundamental in the hazardous winter conditions, according to Aberdeen City Council.

The council has published some helpful information to motor insurance customers, reminding them that reducing their speed in slippery conditions is vital to help lower their number of accident claims.

As well as this, the council has also advised motorists that they should store a shovel inside their cars, as it could be an essential toll when they are required to dig themselves out of a snow drift.

Car insurance policyholders who are unconfident about driving this winter should remain inside, or use public transport, while thermal clothing is also crucial in case drivers are stranded in a secluded place or suffer an unexpected breakdown.
