EcoVelocity reveals UK's greenest motorists

Wednesday, 20 July 2011

The boroughs of Camden, Westminster and Islington are home to the country's greenest motorists.

This is according to research from EcoVelocity, which has revealed to car insurance customers that London postcodes feature the highest number of eco-friendly vehicle registrations across the UK.

It studied data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and found that one in four cars registered in the WC postcode have automobiles with CO2 emissions of 100g/km or less.

Giles Brown, from EcoVelocity, said: "It’s perhaps no surprise that drivers in London are cottoning on to green motoring quicker than anyone else – after all, the capital boasts more charging points for electric cars than any other region of Britain and commercially-available electric cars are all city cars."

Recently, Next Green Car revealed to car insurance policyholders that two months after it launched its Zap-Map, which identifies electric charging points across the UK, it has added an extra 282 sites to its online resource taking the total number of ports to 1,034 nationally.
