England fans urged to check travel insurance

England fans travelling to the World Cup in South Africa are being urged to check their travel insurance to make sure it meets all of their needs.
Last year, travel insurance providers paid out more than £4 million a week in medical costs treating people who had fallen ill while abroad.
Emergency repatriation from outside Europe can cost at least £25,000, so it is important to check the details on your travel insurance cover.
People should advise their travel insurance provider of any pre-existing medical conditions they have to ensure cover is adequate.
Nick Starling, the director of general insurance and health at the Association of British Insurers, said: "Making sure that you have the right travel insurance for your needs is crucial for every England fan travelling to South Africa.
"Whether travelling as part of a package or independently, all supporters should check their travel insurance before they go so that they fully understand what they are covered for, and contact their travel insurer if they are unclear on any aspect of the cover."
Despite the ongoing strike action from British Airways cabin crew, the company will still be operating all flights to South Africa ahead of the World Cup, it has confirmed.
