Holidaymakers are likely to be pleased by the smoking bans in France and Germany as this will enhance their social experiences, according to Action on Smoking and Health (ASH).Research manager at ASH Amanda Sandford claimed that "a refreshing change" will be seen by travellers in these countries because they will be able to eat and drink in smoke-free locations. She added that the bans about to be implemented will be highly popular and that outdated views of those countries and their smoking habits (in the case of France) are somewhat stereotypical."There's a poll showing over 70 per cent support for the smoking ban in France, just as it's about to be brought in. So if the majority of the population are in support of the legislation, then it's likely that compliance will be high," she commented. And while people are unlikely to choose where to take their holidays singularly on smoking laws, she stated, individuals will have to accept that smoking is no longer "acceptable" in social environments. In Europe, Greece has the biggest proportion of adult smokers with 45 per cent, reports the BBC.Tourists should ensure that they have adequate travel insurance in place before making trips.Travel insurance - Get swiftcovered today!
