Expert calls chandeliers 'important'

Monday, 10 September 2012

Many will think of these items as beautiful, but fewer home insurance holders might have dubbed chandeliers 'important' before now.

Yet Light IQ design director Rebecca Weir recently dubbed the features "an incredibly important element within any home".

The features give off what she has called "great general light" and create focal points for the place they are included in.

Meanwhile, they discourage people from the direction of "the modern onslaught of downlights" and represent something personal.

While conventional versions of this sort of feature worked with incandescent lamps, presently a lot of LED options are available.

The former options "create a wonderful, soft diffused light" while the latter "look incredible but many are non-dimmable".

According to Ms Weir: "As with all lighting I think it is important to be able to control the light levels from any source at all times."

This is not the first time that a commentator has given their opinion on the subject of chandeliers, of course.

"All rooms are happy to have a chandelier - it just depends on what your selection is", the Susan Llewellyn Academy of Interior Design's founder, Susan Llewellyn, commented recently.
