Car insurance: Ford Fiesta 'a hit with scrappage scheme customers'

Friday, 03 July 2009

The number of motorists searching for car insurance policies for Ford Fiestas may have increased as a result of the scrappage scheme, if figures from the manufacturer are anything to go by.

According to the group, the cash for bangers initiative has proved a huge success, with this model turning out to be particularly popular.

Participants in the scheme can drive away in a Fiesta from £8,595.

Overall, the company has taken more than 12,000 orders for new autos from people taking advantage of the government programme.

It stated its range of small models have attracted the greatest levels of interest, with the Ka proving the second most popular vehicle in its range.

Nigel Sharp, managing director, commented: "Ford has taken a healthy share of scrappage business considering the limited number of models we have in the budget area, which represents the vast majority of these sales."

Meanwhile, motorists who manage to save money by taking part in the initiative may find they can cut their costs further by searching for the cheapest online car insurance.
