Motorists who drive a Honda may be among the least likely to make a
car insurance claim, after a study placed the brand at the top of the list of most reliable cars.
The What Car? research placed Subaru in second place, Mitsubishi in third, Lexus in fourth and Toyota in fifth, suggesting that manufacturers in the Far East are turning out vehicles with fewer failure rates than ever.
However, despite their impressive reliability rates, Hondas were found to have the highest percentage of air conditioning problems.
By contrast, some higher-end brands like Audi, Rover and BMW were found to be the least reliable out of the 32 included in the study, while Porsches was named as the most expensive cars to repair.
"This year's survey produced some interesting results," said Steve Fowler, editor of What Car?
"Several prestige manufacturers have suffered embarrassing failure rates, while brands that buyers may not associate with reliability have shown a marked improvement."
