Car insurance: Latest plates online

Tuesday, 12 May 2009

Motorists who have saved money by securing cheap car insurance may want to treat themselves to new private number plates.

DVLA Personalised Registrations has announced the upcoming 59-series range is available to view online immediately - ahead of its official release next month.

People turning 50 this year may be particularly tempted to buy themselves a plate from the latest set, as their birth year would have been 1959.

The new registrations go on sale on June 2nd and will be seen on roads across the UK from September 1st.

According to DVLA Registrations, the current format comprising two letters, two numbers, a space and then three further letters - which was introduced nine years ago - has produced some great plates, including MU51 CAL and HU58 AND.

Marketing manager Damian Lawson commented: "The introduction of the new 59 series opens up a whole new raft of potential registrations."

Drivers who make changes to their vehicles may be well advised to inform their car insurance provider - or they may risk invalidating their cover.
