A new and improved Peugeot 107 will offer car insurance customers lower emissions, the manufacturer says. Scheduled to grace showrooms next year, the 107 is set to provide more miles to the gallon via its 1.0-litre petrol engine. According to Peugeot, the combined-cycle fuel consumption figure will be 62.8mpg, which is two per cent more than its predecessor. Due to the 106g/km emissions level, the 107 will stay in the £35 road tax band. In addition, interior changes will be enhanced equipment and new upholstery material, while the outside makeover includes a new chrome detailing scheme and updated wheel trims. Cars with 1.0-litre engines often provide low cost motor insurance for the owner, as they are considered less powerful than those with bigger or sports engines. Other factors usually taken into consideration include the postcode of the owner, previous driving history, the make and model of the car and if it will be stored in a garage or on the road.
