Most reliable car for motor insurance holders revealed

Wednesday, 24 November 2010

The most reliable car for motor insurance policyholders is the BMW 3 Series, according to a new survey.

Despite this, Honda has the best overall reliability record, the survey by Fleet News found.

The Honda Accord took second place with the Audi A4 rounding off the top three.

Japanese and German brands feature most in the top ten most reliable vehicles for car insurance holders, with three of the Japanese brands built in the UK itself.

The Nissan Qashqai, made in Sunderland, came in fourth place and the UK-built Toyota Avensis and Honda Civic came in eighth and ninth respectively.

Fleet News editor Stephen Briers said: "This is the largest reliability survey of its kind, so any vehicle with a top 10 placing will represent a safe bet for any organisation or private motorist."

A recent poll by Goodyear Dunlop revealed that UK drivers are the third-safest motorists in Europe, behind drivers in Germany and Sweden.
