Car insurance: Call for pedestrian crossing

Thursday, 10 April 2008

Road safety issues are set to be on the agenda when Formby Area Committee meets to talk about a possible new pedestrian crossing.

The discussion has been prompted by a petition that has been signed by hundreds of people to enhance safety measures near a school on Freshfield Road in the Merseyside location, reports the Formby Times.

A number of locals have given their support to the drive for the introduction of such a crossing outside Formby High, following road safety fears.

Action should be taken, according to the document, as quickly as possible to ensure that nobody is hurt on the stretch.

"We strongly support the installation of a zebra-crossing on the road and believe that this necessity should take place as soon as possible as we think a prolonged delay in action may result in a student being seriously or fatally injured," it read.

This week, a list of danger junctions was released by Norfolk police in an attempt to make drivers more aware.

Motorists involved in incidents may find that car insurance premiums are negatively impacted upon.
