Motor insurance holders in the UK suffer from fluctuating parking charges that depend on where they live, say experts.

It has been found that the cost of parking a car varies throughout the country, with London being the most expensive city to park a vehicle. Manchester, Edinburgh and Leeds were also expensive, according to a survey by Which?.

Car insurance customers may need to part with as much as £4.40 an hour for parking on the street in London's West End, with Leeds and Edinburgh charges reaching around £2.60.

Coventry was found to be one of the cheaper options, where it is free to park on the street. However, the city's car parks are quite expensive for drivers.

Peter Vicary-Smith, chief executive of Which?, said: "Parking charges vary enormously up and down the country and people want to be clear about where they can park and how much it will cost them."
