Car insurance: Police warn residents in Manchester
Friday, 30 November 2007
Motorists near Manchester should ensure that their safety methods are enhanced, police said, after a series of car crimes in the region.
The force commented that a number of women have been targeted by thieves in the Stockport area over the last couple of months, reports the BBC.
In some cases, cars themselves were stolen after motorists left the keys in ignition, the police said.
Detective Constable at Stockport Criminal Investigation Department Glen Draper urged people to be extra wary in these times, to diminish the prospect of car crime.
"By ensuring that keys are not left easily accessible through letterboxes or windows, the public can help us to reduce offences even further," he told the news provider.
Recently, wardens in Congleton stated that they will crack down on car theft in the new year, the Crewe Guardian reported.
Drivers should ensure they have adequate car insurance that could help in times of car theft.
