£100m for road repairs is not enough, say car insurance customers

Thursday, 06 May 2010

According to car insurance customers in the UK, £100 million to repair damaged roads is not enough money.

Some 62 per cent of motor insurance policy holders think that the Labour party should have pledged more money to repair the pothole damage that was caused during the record-breaking cold winter, a survey from Exchange and Mart has revealed.

Exchange and Mart, a quality used and new car sales website, has called on the government elected today (May 6th) to focus clearly on motoring to tackle congestion, rising costs and damaged roads, in order to keep car insurance customers happy.

The majority of those surveyed said that the £285 million chancellor Alistair Darling pledged to invest in motorway improvement and expansion was not enough money either.

Debra Healy, digital director at Exchange and Mart, said: "It's clear from our survey that UK motorists aren't happy with the condition of the roads and many would like to see better value for their road tax."

None of the parties seem to be looking for ways to combat these problems, she added.
