Car insurance: New road safety awareness campaign launched

Saturday, 02 January 2010

A new road safety awareness campaign has been launched by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) and Park Rite to help car insurance customers stay safe on the roads this winter.

The campaign targets major car parks around the country with posters designed to raise awareness of issues such as the importance of wearing seat belts and using dipped headlights during the daytime.

Posters will be placed at highly visible locations in Park Rite car parks throughout the country.

Noel Brett, chief executive of the RSA, said: "The aim of the campaign is to deliver an important road safety message to drivers and passengers at a key point of intervention - the start of their journey."

The Met Office has also advised drivers to be careful on the roads, with further spells of snow and ice forecasted for the next few days
Wales and the Midlands are set to be hit hardest, with forecasters noting that severe weather conditions could lead to "significant travel disruption" in the worst affected areas.
