Travel insurance: Self-catering holidays 'can save money'

Tuesday, 05 May 2009

More money for essentials such as travel insurance could be saved by choosing a self-catering holiday - which can be a wise choice for summer, it has been suggested.

PR manager at Holiday-Rentals Sarah Chambers gave some advice to Brits who want to go for a break in Europe but do not want to overspend.

She said self-catering is often a good idea because although people think it means you have to cook every night, it really does not.

"It just means you can save money on lunch and breakfast. You can still eat out every night and it still saves you money," she added.

Also discussed was Spain as a destination. Ms Chambers reminded people not to discount the Mediterranean country as it can be authentic and enjoyable, rather than full of overcrowded resorts. recently published research on the subject of Brits abroad.

It found they spend an average of £97 per night on accommodation.
