Motor insurance: Fresh cameras may be used

New batches of speed cameras are set to be deployed in Sussex in a bid to catch out law-breaking drivers, something that could hit their motor insurance deals.

The Sussex Safer Road Partnership (SSRP) is currently in the process of trialling the devices, which have been produced by German outfit Robot, reports the Argus Lite.

Images can be stored on the modern cameras and they therefore do not need to utilise film and can operate each minute of every day.

Communications manager at the SSRP Emma Rogers noted that it is common sense technology will have to be updated in an effort to catch more rogue drivers.

"It makes sense to make the change when firms like Kodak are talking about stopping making film," he commented.

And the cameras are more noticeable to motorists than the older variety, she added, something that will mean they will have more of a chance to slow down.

Many drivers are unaware of the national speed limit and other aspects of road theory, recently noted.
