Car insurance customers who drive a Toyota car are being offered a software upgrade to their cars following problems with the braking systems, while thousands of other cars are being recalled.
The Japanese carmaker is recalling 8,500 Prius cars following faults with the brakes, while other motor insurance policyholders are being offered upgrades to fix the problem. A total of 400,000 Prius cars are being recalled across the world.
Customers are being reassured that the modification will only take 30 minutes, which will fix the issue where a change to the 'feel' of the brake is felt when the car hits a bump, pothole or low grip surface.
So far around 120 cases of braking problems have been reported in the US, while Europe has seen no reported incidents.
It is the latest problem for the world's largest carmaker, after vehicle owners also experienced problems with the accelerator getting stuck, which led to Toyota recalling its iQ, Aygo, Yaris, Auris, Corolla, Avensis and Verso models.
