TyreSafe gives weather-linked tips

Friday, 13 July 2012

Despite the month, many car insurance holders are likely to keep clinging to their umbrellas for some time yet.

TyreSafe has used the recent washout as a way of reminding people about tyre treads, and has directed them to its website, where instructions about how to use a twenty pence piece to investigate their tread depth are available.

"Spring felt more like autumn this year with its unusually high rainfall, yet what it does show is that tyre tread depth should be checked regularly, whatever time of year, to make sure they can cope properly with wet roads," commented TyreSafe's Stuart Jackson.

TyreSafe notes that, according to the Met Office, the United Kingdom had a wetter Q2 during 2012 than it has had this side of 1910.

For those who enjoy being on top of the latest weather info, the Met Office can be followed on Twitter.
