Some quarter of a million cars have been seized since increased police powers were introduced to tackle the problem of people driving without car insurance, according to the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba). However, Graeme Trudgill, Biba's technical and corporate affairs executive, stated although progress has been made uninsured drivers were "still a massive problem". He stated there were still more than two million people driving without car insurance in the UK.Biba are meeting with the government this week to discuss how they can move forward in their bid to tackle the problem.Mr Trudgill warned uninsured drivers: "If you own a vehicle but don't have insurance and that vehicle is on the road then you're going to be caught."Statistics from the Motor Insurance Bureau show seizures of uninsured vehicles reached 150,000 last year, with one vehicle being seized very three minutes.Meanwhile figures released by comparethemarket.com last month suggested UK drivers are paying an average of £31 a year more on their car insurance policies as a direct result of uninsured motorists.Car Insurance - Get swiftcovered today!Budget Car Insurance - Get a quote in under 60 seconds!
