Car insurance: Prepare for more snow and ice

Wednesday, 30 December 2009

Car insurance customers have been advised to prepare for more snow and ice in the coming days.

The Met Office has predicted further spells of heavy snow today (December 30th) over some parts of the UK, with Wales and the Midlands set to be hit hardest.

Met Office chief forecaster Andy Page noted that severe weather conditions could lead to "significant travel disruption" in the worst affected areas.

He added: "The snow could fall in some locations that have missed the heaviest falls so far this winter and people should stay in touch with the latest weather forecasts."

Further, the cold weather is likely to continue as the year draws to a close, with sharp overnight frosts in northern areas and further sleet or snow showers in places.

The Highways Agency recently advised drivers to carry an emergency kit - containing items such as warm clothes, food, water, and a spade - for all winter journeys.
