The International Airline Passengers Association (IAPA) has said that some passengers paying for full service are getting the "worst service" when it comes to bags. This was a comment on the recent figures by the Association of European Airlines that showed that airlines such as British Airways came top of the list for the airline that lost the most bags per 1000 passengers. The 24 members of the association said they had mishandled 15.7 bags for every 1,000 passengers they had carried. The figures should convince air travellers to try the cheaper airlines a chance, the IAPA argued, as they tend to have a better record on lost luggage due to their simpler journey plans. It might also drive a greater interest in travel insurance to cover for the possibility of lost or mishandled baggage. "You're just as likely to lose your bag when you travel business class as economy class and you could be paying hundreds, if not thousands of pounds for a transatlantic flight," said spokesperson for the IAPA Jonathan French.
