Travel insurance: Winter sporting deals 'popular'

Wednesday, 30 April 2008

Sporting holidays are becoming more popular among British consumers, especially during the winter months, has said.

The organisation stated that bookings have increased by "100 per cent" and that travellers generally want to partake in these options.

And tourists want to spread their wings and experience locations that they have not yet seen, marketing director Tom Gordon-Walker noted.

"We are looking to go somewhere a bit further a field to places we have not tried before, because of the exchange rates and the flights are shorter than people realise," he commented.

For example, he cited holidays in Canada as being similar to those in Europe in terms of pricing.

Moreover, he contended, with continental Europe so close to the UK, this has been another outlet for those wanting to take up winter sports.

A fifth of all Britons take part in winter sports each year abroad, recent figures released by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office suggested.

Tourists should ensure that they have adequate travel insurance before travelling.
